FIRE
DEPARTMENT AND KMC TO HOLD TRAINING EXERCISE
The
Kettering Fire Department and Kettering Medical Center
emergency room staff will hold a joint training exercise using
the Jaws of Life on Monday, Nov. 13, at 1 p.m. at Kettering
Fire Headquarters, 2861 Bobbie Place. The training exercise works to establish a working
relationship between the ER staff and the Fire Department as
well as provide continuing education credits.
“This exercise allows ER staff to see first-hand what
and how we accomplish an extrication and what’s involved”,
says Mike Grunkenmeyer, Firefighter/Paramedic.
“The scenarios will consist of typical entrapped
situations – car on its top or on its side.
The nurses will, within safety constraints, be allowed
to use extrication equipment”.
Dr.
Mark Gebhart, KMC Emergency Room Physician and Kettering Fire
Department Chief Medical Officer will moderate the session.
