KETTERING LOCAL 2150

INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF FIREFIGHTERS

KETTERING, OHIO

KETTERING PROFESSIONAL FIREFIGHTERS LOCAL 2150

Firefighters and Cub Scouts Linked to Iraq

On the evening of September 16th, in the basement of Saint Albert the Great Church on Dorothy Lane in Kettering, Cub Scouts Pack 318 and Kettering Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 2150 join forces to impact Iraq.

Firefighters of IAFF Local 2150 donated money to Pack 318 to help their charitable gesture of sending care packages to soldiers in Iraq.  The 50 Cub Scouts of Pack 318 chose to send canned goods, perishable items, and more to the soldiers of the 1487th Transportation Company.  The scouts also made a 40 foot banner thanking the soldiers for all that they are and all that they stand for.

Firefighters from Local 2150 were on hand to help make care packages and present Cub Master Tom Hesse with a check for $350.  IAFF Local President Joel Busch said, “The Cub Scouts and IAFF Firefighters are quite similar in that they both are great proponents of charity and humanity.  It is well known that the Firefighters donate about $20,000 annually to charities like MDA, the American Cancer Society, the Burn Fund, and local youth sports as well as their Christmas Adopt-A-Family; but many may not know that the Cub Scouts participate in nature preservation, Christmas Caroling to shut-ins, and their news paper drive.  “The first Saturday of every month you can find the troop at Saint Albert the Great Church, at 3033 Far Hills Avenue, between 8AM and Noon collecting news papers for their charities and collecting aluminum cans for the IAFF Burn Fund.  It’s a great partnership,” explained President Busch.
